How CipherTech collects and uses your information.
CipherTech is the student organization of the ICT-MAWD & BSIS programs. This notice explains what personal data we collect from members, why we collect it, and your rights over it. By registering, you consent to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
- Your name and email address.
- Student number, course, and year level.
- A profile photo, if you choose to upload one.
- Activity within the app: event registrations and attendance, Money Hunt scans, points, forum posts, and votes in officer elections.
- Basic technical data (e.g. sign-in sessions) needed to keep your account secure.
2. How we use it
- To create and manage your membership and digital ID.
- To run org activities — events, attendance check-in, the Money Hunt, points and leaderboards, forums, and elections.
- To communicate org announcements relevant to members.
3. Sharing and storage
Your information is used within CipherTech and is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing. Some data is stored with the service providers that run this app (database and file-storage hosting). Certain details — such as your name, course, and standings — are visible to other members through leaderboards, forums, and election listings.
4. Retention
We keep your information for as long as you remain a member and as needed for org records. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time.
5. Your rights
Consistent with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. You can update most details anytime from your profile page.
